After a whirlwind of a 2017 Holiday season, I told myself I was going to bring it in 2018. Sweet Thyme turns 4 this year, and I literally cannot believe it. Remember when J.R.R. Tolkien said, "Little by little, one travels far"? Yeah, well I'm feeling that more than ever these days, and it's truly amazing.
I'm so excited to launch the first three poems in my latest project, The Spoon Poetry Series. I've been known to write silly little poems for all my friends and loved ones for any occasion, and so it only seemed natural to marry my love for spoons & poems into one.
The purpose behind this series is to cultivate love and kindness, and to encourage y'all to write your own words. Each poem set comes with a tiny handmade zine with a handful of blank pages. I love picturing y'all taking the time to write down your own thoughts, sentiments, and little love notes.
Introducing 3 poems of L O V E . . .
Poem #1 is for the LOVER. This is a love poem, through and through. Inspired by my own relationship, and the aspects of it I cherish most, I wanted to focus on a healthy balance of support and space. One of my favorite poems from Rupi Kaur's The Sun And Her Flowers reads, "the right one does not stand in your way, they make space for you to step forward". *happy sigh & heart flutter*
Poem #2 is for the SOUL SISTER | Bestie | Gal Pal | First Love | Ride or Die | BADASS LADY in your life. As a female, what greater love is there than the love of your fellow Girl Gang? It is such a special bond, and a kind of love that needs to be celebrated everyday. Let's lift each other up, ladies!
Poem #3 is a little love note for YOUrself. Loving yourself is just as important as loving others. I wrote this poem as a daily reminder to let love in, and be kind to yourself, so you can have more love to give to those around you. I recently read a quote that hit home HARD. "Falling in love with yourself first doesn't make you vain or selfish, it makes you indestructible." Powerful words to live by.
I'm so excited to see where this series ends up. Stay tuned for more Spoon Poetry, coming soon!
See you out there!
